Restylane® is a cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume
and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkes and
folds, such as nasolabial folds, lines around the mouth or it can be used
as a lip enhancer.
Restylane is an FDA approved, non-animal based derived hyaluronic acid,
or sugar, found in the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear
gel called NASHATM, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is
biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
It rarely causes any allergic reaction since it is a naturally occurring
substance in humans.
The entire procedure takes 15-30 minutes and most people are able to
return to work immediately afterwards although bruising and swelling
can occur. For this reason, it is recommended that you come in for
a Restylane treatment two or three weeks before a big event. To help
avoid bruising it is advised to avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high does
of Vitamin E supplements one week prior to your Restylane treatment.
Results for Restylane can last from six months to one year, twice as
long as collagen fillers (which are derived from animals and require
allergy testing).
To see if you are a candidate for Restylane, Radiesse or Botox, please
schedule a consultation with either Dr.
Lionel Bissoon or Dr. Jeffrey
Schorr. Many patients use fillers such as Restylane in combination with
Mesotherapy (Mesolift) or Botox for a complete rejuvenated look and feel
of the skin.
